Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri- Zaja appointed IEBC Vice-Chair.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) held its first formal plenary session Wednesday 23rd Nov.2011

In the session, the Commissioners elected Ms. Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri- Zaja as the Vice-Chairperson of the IEBC. Chapter 15 of the Constitution, which deals with appointments at Commissions and Independent Offices, states that the members of a Commission shall elect a vice-chairperson from among themselves but the chairperson and vice-chairperson must not be of the same gender.

Ms.Bokeeye Mahiri has vast experience in public service. She has worked at State Law Office as a State Council and most recently as the Deputy Chief Legal Officer, Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs.  She is a Lawyer and an Advocate and holds LLB and LLM degrees.

Congrats Lilian. The Kuria girl_child, just stopped crawling, she stood up and guess what, made a baby step. She is walking!

THE MISSION STARTS NOW....BE INVOLVED.

Abanto bheito, to get started, one got begin somewhere. It's largely been a mission on trial. The success it would achieve have been seen, so are areas of weakness.

To get the radio station on air, we require more than devotion.

Weito FM had been running online. However, I wouldn't sustain the costs of services. Consequently, the account has been suspended by the server provider. Even so, the spirit isn't dead. Not just yet.

I wish to invite anyone with ideas and/or resources to contribute towards realising this dream.

The long term plan remains as envisaged. To go live on FM transmission and online; reach out to all the Abakuria in the universe.

Merry X-Mass. Happy 2012.

DOES OUR MP Hon.MACHAGE HAVE A VOICE FOR US?

Our MP Hon. Machage, has been on suspension as Assistant minister, from the cabinet, since the famous NO/YES Constitutional referendum campaigns. He is also attending to charges related to utterances he made during the campaigns.

As a result, he cannot answer questions directed to the ministry he is suspended, nor ask a query on behalf of his constituents.

Does he have an option, like to 'politely' ask the president to relieve him his 'duties' and get some  room to ask questions or even say thank you to the govt for the good it has done to the people of kuria, if there's any.

If yes, Mheshimiwa tafadhali mwambie rais umejiiuzulu. Otherwise, you stand a very good chance to make it to the primary school history books as MP and Assistant minister who had no voice in either side of the parliament floors.
